When a dealer has an ace up, players can make an insurance bet of up to half their original bet. This bet pays 2-1 if the dealer has blackjack, so it is often referred to as “even money.”
If the dealer has an ace up and the player has a blackjack, the dealer will pay the player and take their original bet. This is known as a push.
In some cases, the dealer will shuffle the discard pile and then deal each player a fresh set of cards.
